Change to aircraft circuits at Filton

6th November 2006

At the recent Airport Consultative Group meeting we discussed the complaints received regarding the light aircraft training that remain in circuit at the airfield.

Currently the circuit is alternated north and south of the runway throughout the day to reduce the effect of this type of flying activity on the local residents. Because the complaints against this type of traffic have increased in recent months the consultative group have asked to trial the circuits to the north and south on a week by week basis. This would mean that as far as is practicable all circuit traffic will remain in the same direction for that week with little or no circuit traffic the next week and so on.

Filton Air Traffic Control has assessed this procedure and agreed that for the most part the weekly north/south circuits can be achieved. However please be aware that due to weather conditions, air traffic levels and safety requirements the duty controller will on occasions have to direct aircraft to use the opposite circuit.

he intention is to start these procedures as from Monday 20th November and to review the complaints at the next meeting due in the first quarter of 2007.

If you have any comment regarding this change please e mail the airport at bristolfilton.flightops@baesystems.com
